Why it's unlike anything else in Portugal
The vast majority of biofertilizers sold in Portugal — Biostop / Hubel Verde, Kiplant / Asfertglobal — are monoculture: a single bacterium or fungus, mass-formulated, sold generically. Works the same way for a Douro vineyard or a tomato greenhouse in Faro. It doesn't actually work the same way.
The Digital Fertilization Plan (FertiSOLO) starts from the opposite premise: your soil already has a microbiome. A unique bacterial and fungal community that evolved on that plot, with that climate, with those crops. Instead of imposing external strains, we isolate yours and give them back at industrial scale.
The three pillars
1. Agronomy
Chemical, biological and microbiome characterization of soil. Full initial diagnostic + continuous monitoring throughout the cultivation cycle. Directly supported by our Soil Analysis and Agronomic Characterization services.
2. Biotechnology
Formulation of your Biofertilizers from native rhizobacteria isolated from your farm's own microbiome. Solid or liquid presentation; lyophilization and biodegradable coating for maximum viability. Patent pending for the formulations.
3. Precision Agriculture
Edaphoclimatic probes distributed across the farm, with remote monitoring and continuous plan adjustment along the cycle. Data-driven decisions — moisture, temperature, conductivity, pH — not guesses.
What the subscribed plan includes
- Full agronomic diagnostic (chemical · biological · microbiome)
- Annual biofertilization plan tailored to your farm
- Proprietary biofertilizers (solid + liquid) delivered at optimal cycle dates
- Continuous edaphoclimatic monitoring via probes
- On-field technical support by a dedicated agronomist
- Access to the institutional network ISOPLEXIS / UMA, PHYTOALGAE, DRA
- Quarterly reports with KPIs and recommended adjustments
Who it's for
- Farms in organic agriculture or converting to organic with single crops or limited rotations
- Co-ops and growers with certification or sustainability commitments (PRR, PDR, Bio)
- Agroforestry operations or integrated production with a history of generic fertilization that isn't paying off
- Industry with captive farming suppliers that wants to standardize quality
How it works, in practice
- Initial request via form — describe the farm (area, crops, location, goal)
- Diagnostic meeting (free, in person or remote) within 5–7 business days
- Soil sampling + lab characterization (≈ 3 weeks)
- Plan presented with proposed formulation, application calendar and KPIs to monitor
- Active subscription — first application at the start of the next cycle; biofertilizers delivered, probes installed, dedicated agronomist assigned
Who signs the plan
Team of 3 PhDs — Biochemistry (Pedro Silva), Biotechnology (Jorge Freitas), Chemical Engineering (João Gonçalves) — with more than 50 combined international peer-reviewed publications. Project framed within the StartUP Portugal programme.
